About the event

“Aliens in the Garden” - Roger Umpelby


Roger, is a professional entomologist and horticulturalist with many years’ experience of consultancy and research with government and industry and a part-time advisor for the RHS.


He is a keen gardener and a passionate plant and nature lover who enjoys sharing his love and respect for the natural world.


"Firstly, what is an alien and are they necessarily bad? The talk covers a wide range of non-native animals, plants and diseases and assesses their impact, particularly in our gardens and the wider environment, The general threat from alien species is discussed, with some examples of alien species being covered in more detail."


Doors open 2:30, talk begins 3pm followed by refreshments and socialising.
